FLASHJESTER CREATOR: MAKE SCREEN SAVERS IN FIVE MINUTES
Wellingborough, England--June 24, 1999--3rd Eye Solutions, the parent company of FlashJester,
(http://www.3rdeye.co.uk) announces the release of FlashJester Creator, a
user-friendly new program that enhances Macromedia's Shockwave Flash
technology and makes it possible to create attractive screen savers quickly
and efficiently. Previously, designing screen savers could require a variety
of tools from a variety of sources; but Creator brings all of those tools
into a single program and makes it possible to design a screen saver from a
Flash 3 or 4 projector file in as little as five minutes. Creator fully supports the newly released Flash 4 .
NUMEROUS FEATURES
"We spent over a year developing FlashJester Creator, and we made sure we did
our homework," explains Davendra Patel, managing director for 3rd Eye
Solutions. "Our research made it clear to us that similar products didn't
offer nearly enough features. With Creator, users get custom shaped and designed settings box, multi-language capabilities, a sound mute option, password protection, links to e-mail addresses and numerous other features in a single compressed package that is ready for distribution and requires no programming skills."
EASY DISTRIBUTION
After a screen saver has been made, Creator enables the user to distribute it to different numbers of people, depending on his/her needs. Taking advantage of Creator's amazing compression abilities, users will be able to build a projector file that is up to 1.2 MB and fit it on to 1.4-MB floppy disks for quick and easy distribution. Creator easily packs and compresses everything, including bitmaps, and if the user prefers distribution via The Internet, the setup file can easily be attached to an e-mail and distributed that way. 3rd Eye charges three different prices for using Creator: $695 for a license to distribute an unlimited number of screen savers (3rd Eye is charging a special price of only $595 for the first four weeks after Creator's release), $395 for a license to distribute up to 10,000 screen savers and $99 for Creator's express service.

Global Village, Inc. Releases Metal Knight -- Mission: Terminate Resistance
"Assemble Fighting Units and Plan Strategy for 32nd-Century War"

GILBERT, Arizona--October 20, 1999--Global Village, Inc. announces the release of Metal Knight -- Mission: Terminate Resistance, a futuristic computer game that allows the player to take sides and compete in a complex, challenging sci-fi battle. The player's goal is to gain control of as much territory as possible and neutralize the opposition, and the side that the player chooses to fight on is entirely up to him or her. Boasting such features as 3D animation, a rich audio soundtrack, over 60 individual missions and support for up to eight players, Metal Knight places no limits on the player's imagination.
THE PLOT
The name Metal Knight stems not from heavy metal rock music, but from the
metal robots who will fight in the sci-fi wars of the future. Metal Knight takes place at least 1100 years in the future in the 32nd Century AD and is fought on the Planet Adonia. A colony of Earth, Adonia has, for 32 years, been ruled by Sir Crigger Anderson--a brutal, despotic dictator who would like to invade a neighboring planet (which belongs to the interplanetary union Zep) and exploit its rich, plentiful resources. But Anderson's tyranny and aggression don't go unchallenged. The rulers of Earth, who don't want to battle Zep, plan to remove Anderson from power--and they send the forces of General Jim Cooper to battle Anderson's forces. The plot thickens when one of Anderson's subordinates, Captain Scott White, breaks away from him. White, leader of the renegade Fire Hawk Corps, shares Anderson's goal of an independent Adonia that does not answer to Earth, but he would also like to see Adonia become democratic and be liberated from Anderson. With Adonia engaged in a full-fledged war and Earth having a strong interest in the outcome, the player must choose sides--and the three options are the Fire Hawk Corps (FHC) under White, the Empire Of Adonia (EOA) under Anderson or the Earth Union Defense Army (EUDA). Once the choice has been made, the player must capture as much territory and acquire as many resources as possible.
"Unlike the normal real-time strategy games, which have only fixed routes
and a few branch routes, this game offers much more flexibility and choices
for the player," explains Tim Skrehot, president and founder of Global Village. "The most creative element in Metal Knight is the fact that the player can assemble various fighting units with three types of parts: weapon equipment, body parts and movement parts. So there are many combinations for the three sides. The struggle for resources is always the focus because resources are the key to the overall situation. Once a side occupies a residential area with movable fighting units, the area will continuously
provide resources for troops--until the area is destroyed or occupied by an
enemy."
AGGRESSIVE MARKETING CAMPAIGN
"With our aggressive marketing campaign for Metal Knight, Global Village
is covering all the bases," Skrehot notes. "We are doing in-store promotions
with retailers such as end caps and advertising in retailers’ print media, and other kinds of marketing include posters and fliers as well as individual marketing programs with the retailers. Global Village has plans for ads in select magazines across the country. Created with a 12-35 year old demographic in mind, Metal Knight will appeal to everyone from the advanced, seasoned strategy game enthusiast to the novice.”
"Once Metal Knight has been installed,” Skrehot continues, “it offers the player three levels of participation, from easy to advanced. The easy levels allow first-timers to work their way into the game without feeling frustrated, while the advanced level will challenge even the most skilled strategy game player. Everyone who plays Metal Knight will notice the high level of entertainment value, as games are costing much more.”
HISTORY OF GLOBAL VILLAGE
Skrehot, who founded Global Village in Gilbert, Arizona near Phoenix in 1992, has been in the software industry since 1984, when he was hired to help develop software programs of popular television game shows, including Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, Classic Concentration and Card Sharks. In 1992, Global Village began publishing educational titles for the Latin American Markets, although it has since shifted its focus to gaming and graphics titles for the U.S. Market.
REQUIREMENTS AND COMPATIBILITY
Metal Knight, is compatible with the Windows 95 and 98 and Windows NT 4.0 platforms. Requirements include an IBM-compatible PC with at least a 100MHz Pentium processor, a CD-ROM drive, at least 16 MB of RAM, 100 MB of free hard drive space, V. 5.0 or greater of Direct Draw (which comes with the Metal Knight CD-ROM), 1 MB of video memory and an SVGA card that supports Direct Draw. Metal Knight can support three display modes from 640 * 480 to 1024 * 768, depending on the player's computer configuration and preferences. Although Metal Knight is strictly Windows-compatible at the moment, Global Village is considering developing a Macintosh version in the future.

POWERZIP 5.0: ADVANCED DATA COMPRESSION FEATURES MADE EASIER
Melbourne, Australia--September 20, 1999--Trident Software
(http://www.trident-software.com) announces the release of the new Version 5.0 of PowerZip, a user-friendly compression utility that makes maintaining, backing up and distributing archives easy and efficient. Trident Software's
Y2K-compliant PowerZip software for Windows has the ability to compress
files considerably, thus enabling both home users and businesses to store
an unlimited amount of archives or records and distribute as many of them
as needed--either on floppy or zip disks or via the Internet.
NUMEROUS FEATURES
"Complex directory structures and large archives are becoming increasingly
common, and users are having a greater need for a program that enables
them
to manage and distribute their data with ease," explains Dimitri
Ternovski,
president of Trident Software. "This is where PowerZip comes in. Other
compression utility programs are available, but none of them have
PowerZip's
easy-to-use interface or offer as wide a variety of features. With
PowerZip
5.0, users can enjoy robust performance along with such features as
greater
customizability, improved shell extensions, support for over 12 types of
archives, drag and drop support, a flexible self-extractor, folder view,
multi-disk spanning, encryption and decryption support and the ability to
add folders to archives without using wildcards--although wildcards are
still supported."
OPTIONS FOR DISTRIBUTION
Businesses that need to distribute large files--either as e-mail
attachments,
through The Internet or on disks--have found PowerZip to be a valuable
tool.
Ternovski notes: "Compressing files using PowerZip can dramatically reduce
their size, which is a major consideration for businesses. When large
files
that haven't been compressed are distributed via The Internet, they can
put
a lot of stress on a business' server and take a lot of time to download.
But when PowerZip has compressed those files, the download size can be
reduced
considerably. Meanwhile, businesses that choose to distribute data on
floppy
disks or zip disks will find PowerZip valuable because compressing the
data
will reduce the number of disks needed and therefore, cut production
costs."
OPTIONS FOR STORAGE
Even if a business doesn't need to distribute data but only needs to store
it, PowerZip can cut costs greatly. "When PowerZip compresses a business'
data," Ternovski says, "it takes up less room on floppy or zip disks.
Thus,
the business is spending less money buying disks, and if it needs to mail
that data, it is spending less on postage. Further, PowerZip makes it
easier
for a business to create and store multiple copies of its records."
HISTORY
Trident Software was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1997, when Version
1.0 of PowerZip was released. Since then, Trident Software has maintained
a
loyal customer base in 25 countries, including the U.S., Germany and
Australia,
and has carefully listened to its customers demands when developing new
versions of the software. PowerZip 4.51 was given a 5-star rating and was named Editor's Pick by ZDNet's web site http://www.hotfiles.com.
REQUIREMENTS
PowerZip 5.0 is compatible with Windows 95 and 98 and Windows NT 4.0 SP3.
It will also be compatible with Microsoft's forthcoming Windows 2000
operating system. Trident Software recommends at least 5 MB of disk space,
8
MB of RAM and 66 MHz CPU, although 10 MB of disk space, 16 MB of RAM and
150
MHz CPU would be preferable. Trident Software has no immediate plans to
develop a Macintosh version of PowerZip, but it is considering a Java
version
that should be able to run on a Mac. PowerZip, which supports such
compression
formats as CAB, ZIP, GZ, RAR, Z, ARJ, TAR and LZH, can be downloaded free
of
charge by visiting http://www.trident-software.com. After the user has had
a
chance to try out the software, he/she can purchase however many copies
are
needed. Prices range from one copy for $20 and 2-9 copies at $17 per copy
to
100-199 copies at $4 per copy, 200-499 copies at $3 per copy or 500 or
more
copies at $2 per copy. Those who already have PowerZip 4.5x will be given
a
free upgrade to V. 5.0.
